Yay.

For a taste of a little good news today, toddle on over to Wonkette and read this post.

There are still PIPA and RWA,  so no resting on our laurels just yet. But still, a step in the right direction.

  2. So much appallingly bad legislation, so little time. Ugh.

  3. Sorry for the duplication. There's something about the verification sequence and opening new tabs that gets me tripped up. Sign of aging, I suppose. (Sigh.)

  4. OH SHIT!

    Hey S.W.
I had a whole long reply written out and deleted the whole thing when I tried to remove one of your duplicates. Waaaaahhhhh! Anyway, don't worry about the duplicates - Blogger comments have been hinky ever since they upgraded the system to include the ability to reply and nest comments a couple weeks ago. Whenever I click on the comment tab to read new comments that have been left I'm taken to a blank page that just sits there staring at me. I try and stare it down, but it always wins in the end and I have to close it out and click on the comment tab again, and then I can see the comments. Weird. I assume they'll get it worked out eventually.

Yeah, I didn't notice too much difference in the sites I usually visit during the SOPA/PIPA blackout on the 18th, but only a complete moron wouldn't have realized what complete havoc could be wreaked if sites like Google or Paypal or Ebay or even Facebook were to be shut down even temporarily because of this incredibly stupid proposed legislation. In my more paranoid moments I see this being used as a potential weapon for silencing political or ideological opponents.

Jim at Stonekettle Station (in the sidebar) has a great piece on this up right now. In fact, I'd copy and paste the whole thing here and take credit for it, but I know he frowns on that with a vengeance ;)
