Well, this should be interesting...
I got zero, count 'em, ZERO, zip, zilch, nada, nil, minutes of sleep and I need to spend six hours on the road today. Seriously, I never went to sleep last night, and finally gave up at 4:30 and leapt out of bed to greet the new day. If you never hear from me again it will be because I fell asleep at the wheel.

I'm keeping a good thought for you. I made a three-hour drive a few weeks ago after only getting six hours of sleep, and thought maybe I was taking a chance. Do a follow-up saying you made it OK. OK? :0
ReplyDeleteHi S.W., and thanks for the good thought. I made it just fine. In fact, by last night I was getting so wired from being over-tired that I was afraid I wouldn't sleep again. Mwahahahahahaha! I tossed and turned for 30 seconds before passing out blissfully.
ReplyDeleteMr. B. was quite adamant that I not make the drive on no sleep, but I was on a quest - I'd made arrangements to pick up 2 pairs of canaries and felt like since the weather and roads were cooperating, the least I could do was take advantage of the situation and go get them. I've really, really missed having songbirds for the last few years and found an online ad for the canaries in Petoskey. The guy had really good prices for some beautiful, healthy birds. One of the males was singing his little heart out today already :)
I actually kind of enjoyed the trip. It's very scenic and there really isn't much traffic, but it's three hours up and three hours back. On the way up I helped keep myself alert with music, but on the way home I didn't want to traumatize the poor birds with 215 decibels of bone-jarring, bass-driven noise.
Thanks for thinking of me, but aside from butt bunions from sitting for so long I'm right as rain.
Canaries? You expecting that much gas from the campaign?
ReplyDeleteMan, if the hot air and gas so far from the debates and Iowa hasn't killed them I'd say they're immune. GASP! Oh, the horror! Either that or they're Republican canaries and I need to start playing tapes of Alan Grayson at them 24/7.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all made it to and fro' safely. Hope your new family members bring much delight.
