Occupy America - New Left Media video

The holidays and inclement weather in the north will probably take a heavy toll on occupier presence in the near future, at least for a good chunk of the country, but next summer could be an interesting time.

  1. Protesters with pneumonia and frostbite aren't going to be much to help the cause, so I'm glad if they're suspending operations for awhile. The country will still be in the grip of the 1 percent when the weather is more conducive to protesting — and being paid some attention by others who need to get the message.

  2. Yeah, I haven't heard one way or the other whether the numbers are down at the major protest sites, but I imagine since most of them can no longer have shelters or tents it's getting harder to keep a cohesive group together. They address that in the video at some point.

I wasn't looking forward to thinking about people spending day after day outside in the freezing weather either. I'd rather they use this winter to perhaps solicit donations, apply for permits, and to formulate at least a basic mission statement that will resonate with the 99% they represent. I mean, they've always had one, but they've had a hard time getting it heard. Backseat driving - I duz it.
